I've been working as a massage therapist since 2015. Prior to becoming a massage therapist I had a 20 year career working in welfare and non-profit organisations as a practitioner and leader.
What prompted the change? I have lived with chronic pain due to a childhood neck injury, and for much of the last fifteen years experienced stress illness. My own experiences sparked my interest in remedial massage. Whilst I commenced my studies largely to learn more about how to manage my own pain, it turns out that enjoyed the practical application of what I had learned. The natural extension was to begin my own practice which has resulted in Remedial Effects.
I don't see massage as the panacea for all ailments which we face, but I know that massage is a very helpful part of my pain and stress management routine. Its a great way to earn a living if I can use some of my skills, insight and knowledge to assist others experiencing stress and or pain, or simply to facilitate some self-care.
My previous work in welfare, aged care, counselling and mental health have given me the skills, knowledge and experience to provide a safe and non-judgemental therapeutic environment. Remedial Effects is a trauma-aware practice.
If you'd like to see if I can assist you, then I'll be happy to discuss your situation with you further.
